Zuppa Inglese, literally "English soup", is actually neither English nor a Soup. It is a classic Italian dessert

9 cups             Sponge cake OR Lady fingers, cut into cubes
1/2 cup            sweet Marsala all'uovo(seet Marsala with egg) OR Kirsch (cherry brandy)
6 cups             Pastry cream
1/2 cup           powder Sugar
2 cups             fresh ripe Strawberries, chopped
5                     ripe Bananas, chopped
2                     Kiwis, peeled, chopped
1 cup              Blueberries
1/2 cup           powder Sugar

1 cup              whipping Cream
1/4 cup           powder Sugar
1 cup              crushed, Pistachios OR toasted Almonds

In a large bowl combine the Berries, Banana and Kiwis and Sugar.      In a chilled stainless steel OR glass bowl, whip the whipping cream until soft peaks form.        Add half cup powder Sugar and continue whipping until the peaks stiffen and no gritty Sugar remains.        Do not over whip!(The cream might break).        In a large serving glass bowl, place a layer of two cups of Cake at the bottom. Sprinkle the layer of Cake with 1/4 cup of Marsala (or Kirsh).         Top the layer of wet Cake with half of the chopped Fruits.       Top with 3 cups of the Pastry cream.        Now, top with three cups of Cake.        Sprinkle the layer of Cake with 1/4 cup of Marsala (or Kirsh).         Top the layer of wet Cake with half of the chopped Fruits.        Top with 3 cups of the Pastry cream.       Top with remaining three cups of Cake.        Top the bowl with Whipped cream and garnish with crushed Pistachios.        To serve: use a big spoon and scoop through two layers to get all the ingredients.      It's prettiest when served in glass dishes.
